Abstract

Traffic lights have a very important role in regulating traffic flow. Today, most of the installed traffic lights still use underground cables that connect the lights installed at each intersection with the main controller located not far from the traffic light. They make the installation very complicated, requiring a lot of long cables and a lot of time for asphalt drilling. The purpose of making a Traffic Light Prototype Using Wireless Communication (Master Slave) is to make it easier for road maintenance workers in terms of installation, maintenance, and system development because it uses a microcontroller. Based on the results of the tests that have been carried out in the form of testing the communication distance of the HC-12 master and slave modules, the module can only communicate from a distance of 0–30 meters with an average data transmission delay of 168 ms, while at a distance of 40–50 meters, the module no longer can communicate well or error. The obstacle to the communication distance of the HC-12 module in the form of noise caused by obstacles when communicating can also be caused by weather factors. And on the test results, the delay on the lights can be adjusted using the keypad displayed on the LCD.
