Abstract

The coconut plant is a multipurpose plant where all parts of the plant can be used to meet human needs. For example, coconut shells can be used to make coconut shell charcoal as an alternative fuel. To increase the economic value of coconut shells, many producers process coconut shells into charcoal, especially in the area of Jelitik Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency. This can be seen in the marketing and community level production processes which produce as much as 10 kg/sack on a large scale. In short, it is necessary to make a coconut shell kiln capable of burning coconut shells on a small scale. The existence of a coconut shell burning tool can speed up the process of charcoal production. The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a coconut shell kiln using the VDI 2222 research method to produce a 1kg wet coconut shell kiln, which can be used by the general public and is easy to operate.
