Abstract

Gearbox is one of the important components on the ship. Thus, optimal maintenance is required to ensure and minimize damage that may occur to the gearbox. Gearbox is a power transfer system that functions to channel power or engine power to other component parts so as to produce engine rotation. The implementation method used is the fishbone method to solve problems arising from the initial data collection results which are then followed by the process of planning improvements and corrective actions. This paper aims to restore the initial condition of the gearbox according to its function so that it can extend the life of the gearbox to prevent further damage. From the results of the performance and function tests carried out, it was found that some damage to the gearbox components was found.
