Abstract

The process of sorting citrus fruit is still currently done by hand, although this has a number of disadvantages, including human speed constraints, weariness, and loss of attention, which can impair crop quality and output. Automation in fruit sorting can offer solutions that will take less time, be more accurate, and benefit farmers more in order to solve this issue. The physical components of the Orange Fruit Sorter include an Arduino Mega microcontroller, a conveyor, a servo motor, a DC motor, a load cell sensor, a color sensor, and an infrared sensor. This tool's creation includes both mechanical and electrical components. PVC sheet with a 2 mm thickness that is integrated and modified to the mechanical design forms the conveyor structure. Spunbond fabric makes up the conveyor belt, and the belt drive uses a pipe with a diameter of 1 cm and a length of 9.7 cm. Tests were carried out on several components, such as the TCS3200 color sensor and the loadcell sensor with a frequency scaling of 20%. The test results show an average error rate of 98% for the color sensor and 99.8% for the loadcell sensor. The electronic system consists of components such as the Arduino Mega 2560 Pro Mini as the main brain to control the input and output of the conveyor work system. The L298N motor driver is used to control the speed and rotation of the motor. The DC motor functions as the conveyor shaft drive, the servo motor as the sorting bar drive, the loadcell sensor to detect fruit size, and the TCS3200 as the RGB color sensor.
