Abstract

Fires in electrical distribution panels are often triggered by temperature fluctuations, power disturbances, or the emission of gas and smoke. To mitigate these potential hazards, an IoT-based automatic fire suppression system controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller was designed. The system integrates DS18B20 (temperature), MQ-2 (smoke/gas), flame, and voltage (battery monitoring) sensors to categorize operational status into normal, warning, or danger conditions. Technical testing established the temperature warning threshold at >50°C, while the MQ-2 sensor activates when the ADC reading reaches 375 or higher; the flame sensor has a detection range of 10 to 40 cm. The system demonstrates high responsiveness, with a delay of only 0.8 seconds between flame detection and the fire extinguisher actuator discharging the suppression agent. Another key feature is real-time data connectivity to an Android application via the Firebase Realtime Database. Overall, this innovation proves effective as a solution for early detection and initial fire response in electrical infrastructure.
