This study sets out to evaluate the performance of the spindle on a Reform PSGS-4070 AH surface grinding machine through vibration analysis, while also examining its relationship with surface roughness. An experimental approach was adopted by varying the depth of cut across five levels, with vibration recorded in the horizontal and vertical directions using a Vibroport 80, and surface roughness assessed using a Mitutoyo SJ-210 Surface Roughness Tester. The findings reveal that horizontal vibration rose sharply as the depth of cut increased, moving from Zone A (good) to Zone B (requiring attention) under ISO 10816-3, whereas vertical vibration stayed comparatively steady within Zone A throughout the trials. The resulting spectral pattern points to unbalance in the rotating element along with an early sign of disturbance in the bearing. Horizontal vibration showed a closer relationship with surface roughness than vertical vibration, whose relationship was weaker and less consistent. The safest machining condition was attained at a low depth of cut (≤0.050 mm), yielding the lowest vibration level together with consistently good surface quality.
Syahid Al Akhras, Indra Feriadi, Angga Sateria Copyright (c) 2026 Syahid Al Akhras, Indra Feriadi, Angga Sateria https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://snitt.polman-babel.ac.id/index.php/snitt/article/view/780 Fri, 21 Aug 2026 00:00:00 +0700 PERANCANGAN MESIN PENCACAH SAMPAH PLASTIK JENIS BOTOL MINUMAN KEMASAN https://snitt.polman-babel.ac.id/index.php/snitt/article/view/860
Plastic waste, especially beverage bottles, is one type of waste whose quantity continues to increase and is difficult to decompose naturally, thus requiring more effective management efforts. Unbalance conditions were created by adding 10 g, 15 g, and 20 g of mass to the generator fan at a rotational speed of ±1,491 RPM (24.8 Hz). Radial vibration data were processed using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method to obtain frequency spectra and velocity RMS values. The results show that unbalance is characterized by dominant amplitude at the 1×RPM frequency (24.8–25.0 Hz), which increases proportionally with added mass, reaching 1.89 mm/s, 2.11 mm/s, and 2.81 mm/s (Vibroport). Comparison between the two instruments shows good agreement in dominant frequency identification, with deviations of 0–0.59 Hz, although ADXL345 amplitude values tend to be slightly lower, with average deviations of 0.20–0.66 mm/s. Therefore, the ADXL345 sensor has potential as a low-cost vibration monitoring tool for detecting dominant frequency trends caused by unbalance, although further calibration is required for absolute amplitude accuracy.
Rio Farhan, Lalito Prayoga, Angga Sateria, Muhammad Riva'i Copyright (c) 2026 Rio Farhan, Lalito Prayoga, Angga Sateria, Muhammad Riva'i https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://snitt.polman-babel.ac.id/index.php/snitt/article/view/832 Fri, 21 Aug 2026 00:00:00 +0700 PENERAPAN METODE FMEA PADA PERAWATAN SISTEM MEKANIK KAPAL ISAP PRODUKSI TIMAH https://snitt.polman-babel.ac.id/index.php/snitt/article/view/844
Offshore tin mining operations by PT Timah Tbk rely heavily on the operation of Tin Suction Dredgers (KIP). The collected data were then systematically analyzed using the 5 Whys method to trace the cause-and-effect relationship until the root cause was identified. The analysis revealed that the excessive vibration was not caused by bearing failure but by wear on the shaft bearing seat resulting from a previous repair. The wear reduced the shaft dimensions, increased the radial clearance, disrupted rotor rotational stability, and ultimately generated excessive vibration. These findings explain why previous bearing replacements failed to eliminate the vibration, as they did not address the actual root cause of the problem. However, coconut shell charcoal still has relatively low quality and economic value, so it needs to be further processed into briquettes to increase its value. In this process, a coconut shell charcoal crusher machine serves as an important supporting tool. A survey conducted in Jelitik Village, Sungailiat, Bangka, revealed that most charcoal and briquette producers still use manual methods, which are inefficient in terms of labor and time. This study applies the VDI 2222 method, starting from problem identification through to detailed machine design. The aim is to design a coconut shell charcoal crusher machine that can accelerate the briquette-making process while ensuring good product quality. The machine is designed to crush 10 kg of charcoal within 10 minutes, operate continuously, and produce 6 kg of fine charcoal per cycle, with a particle size ranging from 0.1 mm to a maximum of 2 mm, in accordance with briquette standards.
Fernando Meidiaz, Mahekel Mahekel, Fhayrullah Ferdhynan, Pristiansyah Pristiansyah, M. The sealing machine used in the Precision Agriculture D4 Study Program still has several limitations, such as the machine being in a horizontal position, limited conveyor capacity, no height adjustment mechanism for the machine, and the absence of a system to guide bags to the sealing area. These conditions make the packaging process less optimal and require manual adjustments by the operator. Therefore, the sealer machine design was modified to improve effectiveness and ease in the fertilizer packaging process. The methods used in this study include identifying needs, literature review, concept design, 3D modeling using SolidWorks software, and evaluation of the resulting design. The modifications made include changing the machine position from horizontal to vertical, increasing the conveyor capacity from 3 kg to 10 kg, adding a mechanism to adjust the machine's height so it can match the size of the sacks, and adding guiding components at the end of the sacks to make it easier for them to enter the sealing area.
Masdani Masdani, Apriza Apriza, Dikki Ardiansyah, M.
