Abstract

Silica sand is one of the abundant natural resources in Bangka Belitung Province and has a main content of SiO₂ more than 90%. This material is widely used in the construction industry, especially in the production of lightweight bricks (hebel) as a corrective aggregate. However, the challenges of producing lightweight bricks in the region still lie in the inefficient manual cutting system which poses risks to workers. Therefore, this final project aims to design a simple, efficient, easy-to-assemble and operate hebel lightweight brick cutting tool, while prioritizing workplace safety. The design is carried out using the VDI 2222 method approach. The operating principle of this tool uses an electric motor to drive the winch system and the cutter shaft based on pneumatic linear motion. With the development of this tool, it is expected that MSME actors can significantly improve productivity and the quality of lightweight brick products.
