Abstract

The development of a semi-automated cutting system for a charcoal briquette press aims to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of charcoal briquette production. Based on surveys and interviews with small-scale entrepreneurs who produce charcoal briquettes, it was found that manual cutting systems are still used, which can cause product failure and reduce the quality of charcoal briquettes. Therefore, we propose the design of a semi-automatic briket cutting machine to increase production and improve the quality of charcoal briquettes. The semi-automatic cutting system on the coconut husk charcoal briquette press uses a 12-volt wiper motor as the driving component. Next, the rotational energy will be transmitted by the tie road, which functions as a transmission. The limit switch acts as a switch that turns on and off the wiper motor and the briquette press. Our tests have proven that the semi-automatic cutting system on the charcoal briquette press can cut briquettes to the desired size. It is hoped that the design of this tool will help and improve the economy of small and medium-sized enterprises in the same field in Bangka Belitung.
