ABSTRACT
The Bangka Belitung Islands have significant potential for improving the utilization of organic waste, one of which is coconut shells that can be processed into charcoal. However, coconut shell charcoal still has relatively low quality and economic value, so it needs to be further processed into briquettes to increase its value. In this process, a coconut shell charcoal crusher machine serves as an important supporting tool. A survey conducted in Jelitik Village, Sungailiat, Bangka, revealed that most charcoal and briquette producers still use manual methods, which are inefficient in terms of labor and time. This study applies the VDI 2222 method, starting from problem identification through to detailed machine design. The aim is to design a coconut shell charcoal crusher machine that can accelerate the briquette-making process while ensuring good product quality. The machine is designed to crush 10 kg of charcoal within 10 minutes, operate continuously, and produce 6 kg of fine charcoal per cycle, with a particle size ranging from 0.1 mm to a maximum of 2 mm, in accordance with briquette standards.
