Abstract

The provision of quality animal feed is one of the determining factors for the success of the livestock industry and is the largest component in livestock business activities with the hope of helping the economy of the farmers. Currently, the supply of feed is constrained in the dry season, especially the difficulty in getting green grass, so it can be replaced with pellets. This study aims to design a pellet press machine using 3 rollers vertically and printing pellets measuring Ø6x20 mm. The method used in this design uses VDI 2222. Based on the results of the design and testing, the pellet printing machine uses an electric motor of 1.5 HP 2800 rpm, uses a pulley and belt transmission system, uses 3 rollers for the suppression system and chopper, and from the test results this machine has not been able to produce pellets as desired. This is because during the operation process, the machine frame vibrates, causing the pellet to break by itself. Another factor that causes pellets not in accordance with the purpose is an error in the installation of the cutting blade.
