Abstract

The issue of plastic bottle waste in Indonesia, particularly in the Bangka Belitung region, has become a serious environmental concern due to the low recycling rate. This study aims to design and develop an extrusion device to convert PET plastic bottle waste into 3D printer filament with a diameter of 2.85 mm. The design method follows the VDI 2222 standard, encompassing data collection, conceptualization, component design, prototype development, and testing stages. The system utilizes a stepper motor to drive the screw, a heater band for the heating process, and a simple cooling mechanism. Test results indicate that the device can produce filament with a dimensional tolerance of ±0.05 mm and a production capacity of up to 1 kg per hour. This innovation is expected to serve as an appropriate solution for managing plastic waste and to support the creative industry based on 3D printing technology.
