Roasting is a crucial stage in coffee bean processing, as it influences the beans' color, aroma, and degree of roast. Manual roasting methods often suffer from limited production capacity and inconsistent results. This final project aimed to design and construct a 3-kilogram capacity coffee bean roasting machine tailored to the needs of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The design process utilized the VDI 2222 methodology encompassing planning, conceptualization, detailed design, and product finalization supported by data collection through surveys and literature reviews. The design features a 0.5 HP AC electric motor with a pulley and V-belt transmission system, driving a roasting drum at 45 RPM with a 3kilogram capacity. Testing at temperatures of 130°C, 170°C, and 200°C, with roasting times of 50, 65, and 70 minutes, yielded light, medium, and dark roast levels, respectively. The resulting machine operates according to the design objectives and successfully produces varying roast levels based on temperature and time adjustments.
